Ina Garten is a well-known American cook book writer and Emmy award-winning host of Food Networks current oldest show Barefoot Contessa that began in 2002 and has aired 27 seasons until 2020. Ina began her career by working in the White House, writing the nuclear energy budget and policy reports. Ina initially enjoyed the intellectual stimulation of the job, but eventually, she began to lose interest. Instead, she bought Barefoot Contessa, a specialty store for food. The store was very successful for 18 years, until she made the decision to close it. She then began the first book. Several other books and magazine articles followed. In the meantime the Food Network show was also a success. In addition, she sells all kinds of cooking equipment, tools and storage containers. Ina has never attended any cookery schools nor worked in a dining establishment. Ina is a self-taught cook. Her relaxed approach to entertaining and her straightforward cooking style are well known. Some of her most popular recipes include Skillet - Roasted lemon Chicken Mac and Cheese, Mac, Beef Bourguignon and cheese paired with Beatty's Chocolate Cake and Lemon Bars.
